Contribute - Dreamweaver collaboration
I am a brand new user of Contribute just trying to find my way around. I am
attempting to assist with maintaining the website for my daughter's school.
The school's website was built and currently being maintained with Dreamweaver
- not sure what version. Is it possible for me to make updates to the website
(using the appropriately defined role) with Contribute and also for the current
person to continue to make occasional changes with Dreamweaver? There is a
concern that if I use Contribute, the currnt layout and color schemes could not
be maintained and they would not be able to switch back to Dreamweaver for
updates/maintantence. Thansk for any assistance in getting started.

Re: Contribute - Dreamweaver collaboration
Hi jmnewuser,
[Q]There is a concern that if I use Contribute, the currnt layout and color
schemes could not be maintained [/Q]
This will be avoided if Dreamweaver Templates are set up for you to create new
pages and any pages you are to edit should also be set up as templates. This
way you will only be able to edit certain areas which will not interfer with
the page layout and design.
[Q]they would not be able to switch back to Dreamweaver for
updates/maintantence[/Q]
The Dreamweaver operator will be able to synchronize the site i.e. download
your pages and edits into Dreamweaver.
To avoid any problems Contribute should be set up to allow at least 1
rollback. Thus if any mistakes are made when updating you can revert back to
the previous version of the page.
I hope this helps. I am new to Contribute myself although I have been
designing sites with Dreamweaver for years I have only recently be asked to
hand the updating of a site over to the client.

Re: Contribute - Dreamweaver collaboration
As webmaster, I use Dreamweaver. My users all have Contribute. No issues using
both products. The site uses templates, with the look-and-feel items all locked
down in the uneditable regions to keep the users from messing with that.
