Contribute/DW
Hello,
Does Anyone Here Work With Large Websites and Contribute and Dreamweave
I made a website using DreamWeaver and My client adds/changes content using
Contribute..
The site has gotten very large over the past three or four years.
It is actually a site within a site although the two sites have separate urls:
http://www.nfada.com/
and
http://www.buffaloautoshow.com/
I have to edit the interior site by taking the folder out of the main site's
folder.
Reason, the templates from both site might get confused with each other.
However, recently since I have to download the entire site before I work on
it, so I won't overwrite any changes the
client has made, when I download the entire site, all of the pages on both
sites can not find their links, images, scripts, css, etc.
In doing a little research, all of the links to images on all of the pages
(and scripts and css links) have an extra ../ in them as in the following
img src="../images/image.jpg" width="106" height="106">
It takes me hours to fix this every time even though I use the "find and
change" feature in Dreamweaver..
Can anyone help me with this...? Please..
Many Thanks in advance..
Betsy

Re: Contribute/DW
Hi Betsy,
I am loading Contribute for a client, however most of my website are made
using Dreamweaver and a Conten Management System. The idea is to develope the
design in Fireworks and then use DW as a template file containing code snipets
that the CMS will work with. In short - the CMS handles the entire content and
outputs to a browser.
I can build you a website that you or anyone else can update very simply and
effectively without having to understand Contribute or DW. You can add, edit,
hide and time mark pages within the website. When you add a page it
automatically appears in the website menu and all pages and content can be
easily moved around. In a nut shell - its pretty powerful stuff.
If this sounds of interest and your still struggling then drop me a line to
discuss further. I'm on SKYPE as jamiegorst2 and my prices are rock bottom - no
joke!

Jamie

Re: Contribute/DW
Hi Betsy,
i'm not exactly sure if it will help but you can try verifying the file
placement settings in Contribute
Within Contribute (as contribute administrator):
1. click on Edit> Administer websites> (your site conn)
2. select a role and click on Edit Role settings
3. In the role settings window select File Placement
see if there is any conflict in relation to how Dreamweaver works
