Contribute Freezes.

All of a sudden Contribute 3 has started to freeze during the 'Loading Draft'
of the 'Edit Page' procedure.
I have Dreamweaver CS3 on one computer and can get the editing done but I
would also like to work on the other computer.
I don't know if it has something to do with me working on the site with DW a
little bit while learning DW or not.
Adobe has said they can't help unless I upgrade to Contribute CS3 but I would
rather not spend money when not needed.
I don't get any error message, no warning of impending disaster, but the blue
progress bar stops and I get the spinnning rainbow wheel and it is necessary to
force quit Contribute.
After force quitting I open DW and see that the page I had wanted to work with
in Contribute has been checked out but I don't know if the check out is a
complete checkout or a partial one.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi, I am a very basic user of contribute and mine is freezing too. It has been
working for me fine for ages but today it started playing up. It wont let me
edit any of my pages, but there is one page it will allow me to edit and that
is a new page that i have just started design on, but the important thing is it
has no links in it. This must be what is upsetting the system, something to do
with the links on the page. When you try to do anything you get a "parameters
incorrect" , message and then a longwinded mesage about errors on line 7 but i
am not a techy and I therefore don't understand what is happening and what I
can do to out it right. Can anyone help as this is driving me bonkers, and my
limited knowledge is making me very frustrated.:frown;

To Pureange19 - At least you are getting an error message. I get nothing, just
a frozen contribute.
As I have said I do have DreamWeaver so I am able to get to the changes but it
is very irritating that a product from Adobe is acting up and we don't get any
help from the manufacturer.
Unfortunately we are not having any responses so we, so far, are out of luck.
If you do get a lead please post so I can get a handle also.

Hi Robinhood00 - I have not had any response from Adobe so i decided that the
best thing to do was remove all the sites i was connected to, remove contribute
and reinstall. I did this because I have another licence and the machine that
this one is on was behaving well, so it must have been having a hissy fit!! It
seems to be ok at the moment. I know reinstalling is a big PITA but it sems to
have done the trick for now. Let me know how you get on. Good Luck to you too!!

To Pureange19, I reported this as a 'Bug' to Adobe and this was the only way I
was able to get a response. I got a response and sure enough I was able to
correct the problem. It was a corrupt Preference file. Try trashing the
preference file and start over.

Hi Robinhood. Thanks for that. I am a very basic user so I am unsure what a
preference file is or where to find it. My problem seems to be better, but if
it does it again I will get my head around the preference thingy. Have a good

To Pureange19,
The Preference file is where a lot of information from the application 'lives'.
With the opening and closing of any application these Preference files get a
little corrupted. It is not a big deal but the user needs to throw these
corrupted Preference files away. Then when the user opens the application a
new Preference file is started and the user gets to start all over again. The
only draw back is the user has to re-enter information so the application knows
what it is supposed to do.
The 'route' to get to these preferences is:
User - called Home also - or your Name.
Library - Preference Folder - Contribute 3 Preferences
Once you find this Contribute 3 Preferences folder, just throw it away into
the trash. Then launch the application and put in all the information needed
to use Contribute and you are done.
You will, in the future, start to realize this may have to be done with almost
every application you will be using.
