Contribute requirements
I just assumed that you must have a site created with Dreamweaver, and even
further, a Dreamweaver template. Is this actually the case or can you use any
site and edit in Contribute as long as the permissions have been set?
I guess I'm confused on how and what is exactly required to use Contribute.
Adobe is not clear on this.

Re: Contribute requirements
Ultimately it's just an HTML editor, so you don't 'need' dreamweaver or
templates. But there are advantages (editable regions f.i. that make
limitations to what your users can edit, templates to make adjustments easy,
but you can also work with ss-includes). I would suggest that you just download
the Contribute trial and check it out. That's the best way to get to know the
program.

Re: Contribute requirements
thanks! i checked out a few books on contribute and it sounds as if it's
possible to edit pages not made in dreamweaver, but i need to actually test one
to see if it works. i'm assuming it will depend entirely on how the site was
created originally.

Re: Contribute requirements
When the source code is (X)HTML you can edit your pages with Contribute,
regardless on how the pages are build. Dynamic, script or database driven,
pages cannot be edited with Contribute.
If you want to maintain a website build in (X)HTML and this website has no CMS
yet, Contribute could be a perfect solution, because the program edits the
source-code of the page in a draft on your own computer and then uploads the
source code to the server through FTP.
