Control Palette Position - Adobe Indesign Windows

I can't seem to be able to view ALL of the control palette at once. The right side is cut off, hiding some valuable tools, especially the Control Palette's pop-up menu. When I let it float, I still can't seem to get to them. When I minimize it, then open it, the right side is fully there, but the left is not unless I dock it. I really want to have quick access to all of it. I'm wondering if my 17" monitor is too small to handle all of it, but you'd think there would be something to overcome ...

What's the resolution of the monitor. You really should be running
    1024x768 at a minimum.

    From the InDesign System Requirements:

1,024x768 monitor resolution with 16-bit video card (24-bit screen display recommended)

I'll be darned if that didn't work. I had it set lower so I had everything larger...Thanks! J.

Lower than 1024 768 on a 17 inch monitor! I'll bet you could read it from
the next room. Personally I run - like most people I would suspect - 1280
1024 on that size monitor. System fonts set at 130 per cent keep things nice
    and legible.
