Control Strip Gone?????

    Sometimes software will shut it off temporarily, and won't properly
    reactivate it when it's done doing what it was doing. (Or if the
    program crashes, it won't get a chance to.)

    The short answer to your question is to go under the Apple menu to
    Control Panels, open up Control Strip, and you'll get a panel that will
    let you switch it back on.

    Let us know if that does the trick!
