    Hi,

    To pause,play QT video use movierate ...

    sprite(5).movierate=0 means the video pauses
    sprite(5).movierate=1 means the video plays
    sprite(5).movierate=-1 means the video in reverse
    sprite(5).movierate=3 means the video plays 3 times the normal speed.

    To rewind/fast forward...

    sprite(5).movietime="value" - means you can seek in the video file...

    Basically director measures time in ticks...it's 1/60 of a second... so even the QT video is controlled by ticks... you can find out the total ticks value of a QT movie ...by putting this script given below onto the QT sprite's mouseup....

    on mouseup
    put sprite(5).movietime
    end

    This value is shown in the message window, once the movie stops playing, one value would remain constant, that last value is your complete movie time in ticks...., so now you can use that value to substitute whatever "value" you want in the above movietime script...setting the movietime to 0, rewinds the movie....

    Could you expand a little more on your answer.... I have used:

    sprite(1).movierate=1 --to play

    sprite(1).movierate=0 --to stop

    sprite(1).movietime=0 --to rewind

    the code below to move my QT movie forward between 1 and 30 frames at a time (similar to freeze frame)

    I need help to get my movie to backward between 1 and 30 frames at a time (i have been attempting to use code similar to that below but with:

    currentFrame = sprite(1).movieTime

    newTime = currentFrame - jumpDistance

    on getPropertyDescriptionList

    FREEZE FRAME FORWARD CODE:

    myPropList = [#playDuration:[#comment:"set the number of frames to play:",#format:#integer,#range:[#min:1,#max:30],#default:5],#QTSprite:[#comment:"enter the QT sprite number:",#format:#integer,#default:""] ]

    return myPropList

    end

    on beginSprite me

    thisSprite = me.spriteNum -- the button sprite

    allowPlay = 0 -- don't track the video playback

    end

    on mouseUp me

    allowPlay = 1

    currentFrame = sprite(QTSprite).movieTime

    endTime = currentFrame + playDuration

    end
