    John,

CMX (Corel Presentation Exchange) is a compressed CorelDraw file and is proprietary to CorelDraw. They used to have their Clipart in that format, but in any case it takes CorelDraw to open their CMX clipart or their CDR clipart. Even though Illustrator CS will open all must latest versions of CDR files (version 5 thru 10), it won't open their Clipart for it's a specially compressed format that only Corel can handle.

John. You can open cmx files in Inkscape (open source software). If you save them in svg, they can be opened in Illustrator.
