Hello to all & thanks for reading!

I've discovered that when using threaded type containers that use Hyphenation, Roman Hanging Punctuation, the Every-Line Composer, and justified margins, you cannot convert those containers to outlines without the type reflowing!?!

That's a major pain given that many designers lay a piece out, and then convert type to outlines as the last step before saving the printer's file.

I just printed $600 in postcards that came back from the printer with a type error that I definitely proofread (I still have my own correct laser proof). What I realized is that I converted the type containers to outlines after approving the text and did not notice that two words were DELETED because of the reflow, and sent it to the printer.

The convert to outlines command appears to first remove the threading on containers, and THEN converts the type to outlines. This is inaccurate because the individual type containers are then seen as self-contained, and the last lines in each will no longer be justified to BOTH margins because Illustrator does not see the text as continuing!

For this to work correctly, you now have to MANUALLY release the threading on containers, then MANUALLY select each of the last lines of text and increase their tracking (or some other make-do) to extend them the full width of the container, and THEN convert the type containers to outlines.

With all the fantastic new type advancements in Illustrator CS (thank you, Adobe!), this glitch is an unfortunate oversight that comes up all the time in printed pieces.

With threaded text containers, you should be able to select them and convert that type to outlines (no matter WHAT the type specs are), and have the type be FROZEN on the page exactly where it currently is in outline form. That's the whole point of the command.

Can anyone else duplicate this problem?.....
