Converting existing site to Contribute

I have an existing site that I want to set up for Contribute, to allow someone
to do minimal editing. The actual web site is with a web-hosting company. I'm
using DW 8

On my computer, my local info and testing server are the same. Since I do some
CF work, this location is my \CFusion\MX\wwwroot.

When I go to Edit Sites, Remote Info I input the information and click Test,
and get the message that DW has successfully reached the remote site.

When I go to the Contribute tab, and fill in the information, I eventually go
to a dialog saying Retrieving Remote folder information. Then an error box pops
up that says The Parameter is Incorrect. Then a dialog comes up that says
Retrieving Remote Folder information for the site -- but this dialog hangs and
I can't cancel it except through Task Manager.

Should I create a new site definition, set it up for Contribute, and then
import all my files from the other site? Or is there some way around this
"Parameter is Incorrect" ?

Can you try the same within contrbute by creating a connection to the site. If you are able to connect to the site.
