Default Converting Microsoft Office documents to PDF on the fly

    Hi folks,

Wondering if the Acrobat SDK allows for converting Microsoft Word, Excel, etc. files to PDF files in a seamless fashion.

I want to have users put their Microsoft Office documents up to a web-server and then have the Acrobat SDK automatically convert these files to a PDF.

I am researching the Acrobat SDK capabilities and I have not yet found a clear reference to this capability although it seems this could be achieved.

    Thanks,
    Glenn

First and foremost - Adobe doees NOT license Acrobat for use on a server. The EULA specifically prohibits this. So regardless of any provided APIs, you can't use Acrobat like this.

In addition, Acrobat does not provide any APIs for programmatic conversion of Office documents to PDF.

That said, Adobe DOES offer a software product that is designed for server-side conversion of Office documents to PDF - Adobe LiveCycle PDF Generator.
