    Default Converting to PDFx1a

I did this the other day and now today it's not working and I don't know why.
Have a 92 pg Quark doc that I made a PDFX1a of. Have to separate it into 92 separate pgs. I extracted the pages and lose my x1a criteria. The other day I was able to convert them all back to x1a's... today I can not. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? It's telling me the usual things when a conversion fails: version key, output intent, and PDFx1a label missing. Puh-leeze help. Thanks all.

    Hi woopit

When you have a valid PDF/X-1a file and use Acrobat to separate it into single pages, you loose the PDF/X-1a compliant when using the "Save" functionality. You have to convert every single page to a PDF/X-1a file using the Preflight Function. You might find the Droplet-Feature helpful when converting multiple files to a PDF/X-1a.

When you say "version key, output intent, and PDFx1a label missing" leads to the assumption, that you do a PDF/X-1a verification and not a PDF/X-1a creation.

Yes, Peter I knew that each page has to be re-converted into x1a's again, but what I didn't realize was that my Optimizer setting had to be set correctly B4 extracting pages. I had to de-select "Discard document structure" then I was able to convert. Thanks for the input.
Now, if you could tell me how 2 use that droplet feature that would be cool. Everytime I convert a single page into an X1a the Preflight window closes itself. This whole process is really a pain in the...
    Thanks!

    Hi woopit

You need to create a Preflight Profile, that converts a PDF to PDF/X-1a. Then you slect the Profile and save it as Preflight-Droplet (using the option Menu of the Preflight Window). Now you can drag PDF's onto this droplet.

    Hi

Am having the same problem as woopit only when I try to convert the extracted pdf to a pdf x1a using Acrobat 7's preflight profiles convert option, I only get a restricted set of output intent options.

It doesn't offer me the right output intent (ISO Coated Fogra 27) which means it still craps out when I put it through our preflight. Is there somewhere I can edit the list of output intents it offers?
