We spoke with technical support as well. You can have revision marks (via Distiller) OR hyperlinks (via the dot.pdf icon in Word) but NOT both. Support also advised that this was a "known issue" for Acrobat 6.0.1. Surprisingly to us, technical support did not know if or when this snag will be fixed.

    A simple work-around....

We have Word XP and Acrobat 6.0.1 on one PC and another PC with Word 2000 and Acrobat 4.0. In order to capture the revision marks AND maintain the Word hyperlinks...here is what we did:

The Word XP document (in our case a 523 page manual) was opened in Word 2000 and converted via Acrobat 4.0. Done. The resulting dot.pdf file contained the revision bars and the Word hyperlinks.

[Do not, however, save the Word XP file as a Word 2000 file. Reason: a line(s) will be gained and/or lost on a number of pages thereby making the resulting Word 2000 file an incorrect copy from the original Word XP file. Word 2000 and Word XP are not always backward and forward compatible.]

Please notify Adobe that you want 6.0.1 to have the revision bar capture feature back in. Go the "Contact us" page and on the left margin there is a hyperlink for Product Features Request. Click on it and fill it out.

This may sound like a dumb idea but here it goes anyway and it does take a little extra time.

Create your pdf with PDFMaker. Create a second pdf directly with distlller. Replace all of the pages in the first pdf with the pages from the second. You should have all the links in place and see the change bars.

    Hope this helps
