The problem is not the hardware, it's the software...Rosetta to be exact.

And there are mixed reports about just how well this update is fixing
    the problem.

i'm personally having a lot of InDesign crashes since 10.4.8 (i never have crashes normally) It's so bad I'm way behind on a project now. It's crashing a few times per hour.

I am really diligent about updates too. I repair permissions before and after installs, do full reboots, etc. Something's definitely not agreeing with ID4 and 10.4.8 on my particular machine...

I've been running on the 10.4.8 update for about 3 days now, doing work in Ind and Photoshop. In that time, I've had only 1 crash - that was in InD, right after launching Adobe Help and returning to InD to apply what I'd learned. I was working in a table at the time, and had just clicked inside a cell to do some editing. Since getting my new system, I've had several crashes that seem to be related to the Adobe Help system.

In another thread, I reported on a repeatable problem I was having trying to print or export-to-PDF a duotone or quadtone saved to EPS. That problem appears to have been solved with this update.

The other crashing problems I was experiencing were dramatically reduced (prior to the update) by removing all fonts other than those installed by the system, then adding them back in only as needed by my projects.

Was the ctrl + scrollwheel there before this update? It zooms the whole screen :). Was a bit surprised at first since I meant to hold shift to scroll sideways.

Bad note is that I now have to track down whatever stole the shortcut for hide/view baseline grid (alt+cmd+' in the swedish version).

I tried that crtl+scrollwheel and I couldn't figure out how to unzoom! Had to restart to get back to default.

I've turned it off in sys prefs.

You unzoom by scolling in the other direction with scrollwheel on mouse holding down ctrlkey. It is very handy.

Also, if you have one of the newer laptops (begining with some of the later G4 PowerBooks and probably Intel laptops), you can do the same thing with the trackpad: If your laptop allows you to scroll by using two fingers on the trackpad, add the Control key and you can zoom.

Must be something wrong with my mouse. 'Other' directions don't do anything. Boo-hoo. Never mind.

Cmd-Opt-Minus will also return the display to "normal" size... (just as Cmd-Opt-Plus [can be repeated up to a point] will zoom in)

Peter those key strokes do not work for what we are talking about.
10.4.8 gives you the function of Zooming the whole computer and screen when holding control and using a scroll wheel. Similar to zoom in Universal Access.

    Buko,

Cmd-Opt-Minus is the keyboard shortcut for "Zoom Out" of the Universal Access Zoom function, and it DOES work after you have zoomed in with the scroll wheel in 10.4.8 - at least it does if you have the Universal Access zoom feature turned on. It appears that the scroll wheel zoom works whether the Universal Access Zoom is on or off.

Sorry Peter I have it turned off and those key strokes mean nothing. I was under the misunderstanding that you were referring to ID. I have never turned on Universal Access and I doubt many who frequent these forums have it turned on. the Zoom function is new in 10.4.8. No disrespect was intended. B)
