Copy and Paste from Illustrator
Hi.
When copying from Illustrator CS and pasting into Freehand MX, the copied
vector changes? points are added and the edges become squared off? I have tried
saving the ICS doc in a lower version (8,9,10) but the problem persists.
This even happens on such simple object as a circle? does anyone no how to fix
this problem or have a way around it.
Can ayone help. I receive quite a lot of artwork in Illustrator that i would
like to use in FHMX
thanks. RG.

Re: Copy and Paste from Illustrator
Stop copying and pasting. Take the AI8 document and import it into FH.
Should work fine.

Re: Copy and Paste from Illustrator
Import to Freehand? R u saying Export to FreeHand. Anyway, I'm using ai 10, I
dun seem to be able to export it Freehand becos when I click to export, there
isn't anything that says FreeHand....Could you help? I'm facing the same
problem as I work better with Freehand rather than ai.
The file i got from my customer is a PDF and I was able to convert it to ai10.
But as usual, I try to convert it to FreeHand, it says 'Couldn't convert the
Document Because the root object ( catalog dictionary ) is missing or invalid.
What does this mean ? Please help?

Re: Copy and Paste from Illustrator
Sorry I miss out 1 important point, I 'm using Freehand 10 and trying to
convert ai 10 to FH 10.
Ok ...this is wat I have actually done.....I got this pdf file from client. As
usual try to convert it to FH10 but was unable so I click file then drop onto
the ai10 application and the file open and every elements is there. So usually
I would drag and drop this file on FH 10 application , it opens up but more
like an EPS and not editable......
Then I try another way by exporting it back to pdf......then drag & drop on FH
10, as expected, the file open but content is all in a mess.....pictures are
missing, color and graduation tone is gone expect for text and line work is
still there but color is wrong......
So wat is the problem?

Do you have AI/EPS turned on in your FH clipboard import prefs?
Also check your AI clipboard Copy As prefs and make sure both PDF and AICB
(preserve paths) are on.

Re: Copy and Paste from Illustrator
FreeHand will open AI files version 8 and older. What I told you was to
Import INTO not Export TO. You can also just open the AI8 (or older)
file from FH's open command. Just make sure that it is a true AI file
and not an AI EPS file.
