Powerpoint does not import PDF but will indeed paste from the clipboard.
However, the default resolution is 72 dpi and can be changed.
Acrobat / Preferences / General / 'Use Fixed Resolution for Snapshot images'
Change to say 300 dpi as a test
Use the snapshot tool (looks like a camera) ...
