You can enter it using the text tool in the same way as you would key it into any Windows app. You need the ALT code or the character map program.

Or you can just cut and paste this: ©

BTW, I use a free program called AllChars that makes this kind of this very simple.

Try character map under programs/accessories in windows. There's one in the
    Ariel font.

In a pinch you can always just draw it. Type a "C" and draw a circle around it by stroking a circular selection made with the circular marquis tool. Not exactly the technique recommended by professionals, and not the way I'd do it, but I just figured I'd make sure you were presented with all possible options!

(I hate getting pinched. My daugher sneaks up on me all the time and pinches me! Ouch! That or she pulls the little hairs on my arms! OUCH! OUCH!!!)

Hopefully not the "OUCH! OUCH!" doesn't happen when you are holding the first cup of coffee and it is HOT.

But to stay on topic (as this is not the lounge):

Add a text layer with just a large letter "O".

Add another text layer with a small "c".

Move the "c" layer until you center the "c" in the "O".

Merge just the text layers and move the © where you want it.

Sometimes there are just TOO many ways to do the same thing in Photoshop. But this does seem easier than drawing it.

Call me just a dumb ole Maccer, but of the 30 or 40 Windows systems I've sat in front of, ALL of them had the Character Map accessory.

Man, they other guys from the typography forum would cringe at the thought of you people building copyright symbols willy-nilly. (I know I did.)

If a character exists on a font, use it, not some slapped together creation. And if there is not one on the font you got (which means you have gotten a really bad font) then choose one from a similar font.

Type designers know how glyphs are supposed to be drawn to look correctly. You could build a window out of 2x4s and a piece of glass, but it isn't going to look very nice (unless you know fine joinery). Don't do a similar thing with your text.
