Correct Font not appearing in Text palette

Periodically while working in Illus CS (Panther 10.3, new Mac G5) when I go back to a text block to change type style, once the text is highlighted, the font in text palette still reads as the default (myiad) when I KNOW that is not the font I was working with. I have tried closing and opening text palette, deselecting text and hitting "clear" button on keyboard (in the number area on right), and many other things. Sometimes the type palette will then act correctly, sometimes not. Have not been able to find any reference to this bug in Adobe "help" area. Is this a problem for anyone else?

I have the exact same problem. That's why I'm here this morning. No luck so far.

Also, If I use the Apple menu to navigate to and launch the app (Applications / Ill. CS folder) whatever app is currently active crashes! Weird.

Having second thoughts about Ill CS...

Same problem here with the font name. Can't figure out why it happen when it happens. I came here looking for a solution, popped back to my file and low and behold the font name appeared. Sure wish I knew what causes this.

I've had the exact same problem. After I have formatted text and then go back to it later and select it to change some of its formatting, the type character window will show the default text settings; not the font, size, leading, tracking, etc I specified. However, the info window will show the font & size correctly. No rhyme or reason to it.

I've also had a problem with the text cursor (I beam) not being visible. It does not matter where you try to position the cursor within a text box, it just does not appear. The only way I can see where my cursor is inserted is to highlight (select) some of the text. In addition to this dilema, some of my fonts display incorrect characters in AI CS (ie- in one font, the number 6 appears as a question mark ?). This is text I have typed directly into Illustrator; not imported from PC text or anything you might expect would cause such weirdness. I was hoping someone had some solutions. I have not tried trashing my prefs yet, but I will give that a go.

OMG - My first thought was: thank God someone else is having the EXACT
same problems as I. My second thought: it's really unfortunate that no
one has any answers to these problems as of yet. BTW Pam, trashing
prefs has not worked for me. please follow up if you figure anything
out. Thanks!
