Corrupted Illus file--can't save
Most of my students are now encountering this error in Illustrator v9.0: "File has become corrupted cannot save .pdf" (even though we are trying to save it as an .ai file and not a .pdf) There is a "not enough pdf memory error" attached. Then the occasional "system has unexpectedly quit" But the file size is under 446 K and student file space on the network is large having been recently installed/configured. They are all working from the same Adobe Illustrator Classroom in a Book lessons...and all are getting the same errors now.
Tried save as, save a copy, and exporting and it just won't save. Then I trashed the preferences file....still no luck.
Students are using MAC G4's and are in a MAC OS 10.2 network environment. We only have Illustrator v9.0 licences so we still have to call up the Classic environment each time.
Ideas? This is a real cluster disaster.

Re: Corrupted Illus file--can't save
Have you tried pasting into a new document? Every now and then, that saves me a bunch of redesign time.

Re: Corrupted Illus file--can't save
Either the file is corrupt or you might simply have a corrupt font.
Or try this old favorite do a search for AdobeFnt05.lst or AdobeFnt06.lst or AdobeFnt01.lst trash any and all that are over say 30Kb or just trash all of the anywhere you find them.
They will be remade fresh if they keep getting large then it probably a font or two or three.
But make sure you also trash AI's preferences before launching.
One more thing you can try changing the time zone and change it back. Though I( have never heard it affecting AI 9.

Re: Corrupted Illus file--can't save
Hmmmmm, thanks for the feedback. Paste into new document gives same error msg. Same error on various lesson files. Will try the font thing.
The exact error in Illustrator is: -54
"Acrobat PDF file format is having difficulties. Unable to display correct error message because out of memory... Can't save the illustration. The file is locked or in use. ID -54"
