Found it!
Hit cntrl + alt keys together then click on save to web. This deletes the prefs and I was good to go.

Could not complete this operation because an assertion has failed!
It worked fine for me, just hold Ctrl and Alt down, click on Save for Web and then click on yes when it asks if you want to delete all the prefs.
