could not open filename.bmp because of disk error
ok, i get this error "could not open filename.bmp because of disk error" whenever i try to load some of my images larger than about 150 megapixels (somewhere between 100 and 200 seems to be the cuttoff). How do i get around this? i mean, these images have to be opened to be resized down! i cant even open them.
do you guys know if there is any software out there that supports higher image pixel counts than photoshop?

Re: Could not open filename.bmp because of disk error!!
that error usually means what is says. run scandisk or disk checking utility asap. those files may already be toast, some may be recovered by fixing any disk errors.

bypass it or perhaps be able to name me a software that can help.Which program put the files on the drive to begin with. There's probably a>

maybe a search on Google or Photoshop support.

Re: Could not open filename.bmp because of disk error!!
I don't use IrfanView but folks here whom I respect use it and say it's a bit of a swiss army knife in addition to being a good image viewer. I don't know if it will resize your images, but it's worth a try.
The only limitation that I know of with Photoshop and images is something like 30,000 x 30,000 pixels (someone check me on that) and a 2 gig file size limit.
Peace,
Tony
