create a cd-rom startup "icon-picture" from a bitmap (MAC)
Hi there,
I know that there is a tool to create an icon from a bitmap, say *.jpg, whatever, actually this icon will consist of several icons fit smoothly together and then just look like an image or a logo when the executable cd-rom starts up.
Usually this is placed in the startup folder and can be seen when you insert some sort of commercial installation cd-rom.
Does anybody know where I can get this mac tool and what it is called.....!!!!!!!!

No - Axialis is not the solution... or maybe just part of the solution.
Making a picture up out of icons is what this is all about... I would be inclined to start with ImageReady (or some other graphics app which does 'slices') to design the big picture, carve it up into slices, and then save each slice as one little 'tile'. On a mac, these 'tiles' will have icons that represent their contents, although how accurate these will be I don't know. Anyway... then it is a case of copy-pasting each of these icons to become the icon of an empty folder... and then arranging all those icons very carfully to put the tiles back to form the picture...
sounds finicky and tricky... ;-) good luck!

Hi Dandy, did you find that little tool? I had it once on a CD-ROM called "Toast". Could look for it and send it to you.
