Create a new web application REMOTELY using VS Studio .NET - ASP.NET General

I'm guessing that you through IIS or FPSE, have the app locked down too hard.. I can do this (connect remotely from work, to home) - and it prompts me.. "Stephen D. Oliver" <com> wrote in message news:Of$phx.gbl...  my  creation  hard??? ...

IIS 6 is completely different from IIS 5. By default, the FrontPage Server
Extensions are prohibited. You need to open IIS, select the Web Server
Extensions folder, select the FPSE, and then click Allow.

I don't have any 2003 servers setup, so I'm not positive - but some places
to look.. in IIS, right-click on the root web and do "All Tasks" and run the
Permission Wizard.. if you have FPSE 2002, take a look at how the
permissions are set up for that...

Unless something major has changed, those are pretty much THE two places
that those kinds of permissions are set... please let us know what you find!

If you take the steps I gave you, it will work.

    Hi,

that are the steps that i do

    - open IIS6 MMC and select 'Default Web Site'
    - select the Permission context menu
    - Add your user and grant the needed control (Im working inside
enterprise so i grant full control)
    - try to open remote project. if you ask select the front page
    extensions

Let me know if it works for you.

    I finally got it.

While wandering around in the Administrative Tools folder of the Web Server,
I found the applet .NET Framework Wizards. Inside of that, I found a
    smaller applet, "Adjust .NET Security".
I fired that up and saw that it contained security settings (EXACTLY like
the one for IE) for different zones, e.g., "Intranet, Internet, My
    Computer," and so on.
I changed the settings for "Internet" such that it must ask the user for
authentication and then, VOILA! I could then see the prompt for username and
password and then I was able to authenticate and create the project.

Thanks for helping me think through this!
