    Default Creating an Editable pdf

My client would like the brochure I create for her to be an editable pdf. I asked her if she had Acrobat Professional and she does. So that is ok.

I've just never had anyone request that before. I assume any pdf opened in AP is editable as long as you have the fonts and no funky paragraph setups [like bulleted pp].

I saw one posting that suggested saving the file with Enabling User Rights, but it has limited abilities. Not sure if that is good to do??

Is there anything else I need to know?

    Thankya kindly!

Your client cannot get what she wants.

PDF is basically a final format. There are very limited capabilities using the TouchUp Text and TouchUp Object tool in Acrobat (and NOT in Reader), but you'll quickly run into limitations. Forget trying to edit text if the text has to wrap. Acrobat 9 was supposed to be improved, but if it is it's very hard for me to tell that.

You can do some further editing if you and your client invested another $600 or so for the very expensive Enfocus Pitstop plug-in to Acrobat.

Bottom line: It's not going to work.

Thanks Steve...good information! I think the client just wants to be able to change her list of services if they need to be changed down the road. And then she would send that pdf along to perspectives. Basically not wanting to pay my designer fees and do it herself :)

For this kind of collaborative work you all need the same original
program (e.g. InDesign), files, graphics and fonts.

Many people have wished PDF is a magic way of avoiding any need to
make a client have all of these things, but it isn't to be...
