Creating Gradient Swatches
I would like to create a couple of coloured gradient swatches but don't know how to activate the stop colour area of the New Gradient Swatch window. All I can get is what appears to be a grayscaled slider. I have a full range of colours under the normal swatches window.
Any help appreciated.
thanks
Keith

Re: Creating Gradient Swatches
To activate one of the stop colors (the little "houses" underneath the slider) just click on it. Its "roof" turns black.
Then from the Stop Colors dropdown menu, choose a color source ... if you want to use a color from your Swatches palette, choose "Swatches". Then click on the color you want in the list that appears.
The New Gradient Swatch is not the most intuitive interface, that's for sure.

Re: Creating Gradient Swatches
Thanks Anne-Marie: When I chose the ingredient window, chose Linear then click on the little house roof choose magenta from my swatches menu the whole layer turns magenta without any gradient effect. If I select reverse my layer turns grayscale with a magenta line around the outside. Seems I am doing something wrong.
Any suggestions.
Thanks

Re: Creating Gradient Swatches
Keith, read my post again.
You go to Swatches' palette and choose "New Gradient Swatch". You don't go near the Swatches palette again until your gradient is done. :-)
You select a stop point in the gradient palette.
Then you choose a color source from the Gradient Palette's "Stop Colors:" drop down menu, right above the gradient bar.
Let's say you want your color source to be your swatches. So you choose "Swatches" from the Stop Colors: drop down menu.
When you do that, your swatches are "reprised" right there in the gradient palette. Click on one of them. Your stop point changes to that color.
Choose the other stop point. Choose a color again *from the Gradient Palette*.
When you're happy with your gradient, click Add (to add the gradient to your Swatches palette but not close the Gradient Palette dialog, allowing you to create another one) or Done, which adds the gradient to Swatches and closes the Gradient Palette dialog.
