Creating HTML Emails

Hi Everyone.

I was wondering if it's possible to create HTML emails in InDesign?

My client wants me to create a simple brochure as an HTML email. There will likely be links to his web site.

Any pointers on this? I have an InDesign book which details how to create interactive pdfs - that's no problem - but it doesn't say whether it's possible to create HTML emails.

Also - is there such a thing as an HTML pdf?

I frequently export PDFs from InDesign and attach them to e-mails.

No, as PDFs.

InDesign does not generate HTML directly. It will export XML or you can use PackageForGoLive.

To generate HTML you need a html editor application. Like GoLive or DreamWeaver. But it isn't allt that easy to generate a html-email. A html page is not enough to make it a html-email. Certain rules rule for how to handle images, links, css and the rest and you cannot simply create a html page and send that off unless you use some online service that can handle that. Most Mac-mail-apps cannot send regular html-emails (Entourage can with an addition of an applescript). For more info go here < <http://www.golivein24.com/HTMLemail/index.html>>.

Robert - Word might work on a PC, but not on a Mac (yes it can create a html document but that is not the same as a html-email) - apart from the fact that it creates terrible html.
