creating links in a 3d world - Macromedia Director 3D

Hi, Ive only been learning Director for a few months and wondered if anyone could help me solve a problem. I have a 3d world (shockwave) that is like a giant sphere and the camera is in the centre of it looking out at the sphere walls (which has a 360 x 360 image on it). What i would like to achieve is for the user to be able to click on a specific part of the sphere wall(i.e. a door) and for it to either move the playhead or change the 3d sprite to another giant sphere. I hope ...

    Hi,

Ive only been learning Director for a few months and wondered if anyone could
help me solve a problem. I have a 3d world (shockwave) that is like a giant
sphere and the camera is in the centre of it looking out at the sphere walls
(which has a 360 x 360 image on it). What i would like to achieve is for the
user to be able to click on a specific part of the sphere wall(i.e. a door) and
for it to either move the playhead or change the 3d sprite to another giant
sphere. I hope this makes sense? Does anyone have any ideas?

If you youse the modelsUnderLoc method, beside the name of the model under
mouse, you get a list that includes the specific UV coordinates you pressed on.
this type on method should aid you.

Look for the method in the help menu

Thank You, I appreciate your help.

Unfortunately, having looked at it in the help, I think I would need another
post to explain it further. Sorry - I must be a lot more novice than I thought.

Does anyone know where I can do either, any tutorials on this or books that
might walk me through it? Failing that, does anyone know anyone who I can pay
to do the coding and explain it?

Hi their Novicesimon. This is a little complicated for a novice user. However,
unless you are looking to learn how to do this, their is a script aready made
in the library palette. Just go to Window->Library Palette. Then under
3d->actions select "Click Model Go to Marker" and drag that to your 3d sprite.
Also it is also very important that you use a mouse trigger script as well. You
can find this in the 3d->triggers catagory. In here you can choose from left
mouse, right mouse, or keyboard input. In addition, it is also required that
you first place the action script and then place the trigger script instead of
the other way around. If you do, then the trigger script will give you the "do
not" symbol becuase it tries to look for an action script that is applied to
    the sprite first.
