creating vector logo - Adobe Illustrator Windows

Hi, I'm a beginner in Illustrator, and now I would like to make a vector logo. I've made it in photoshop before. It's a rektangle, with outside red and outside glow. You can check it out at: <http://www.apriorigaming.com/logo_apg.jpg> I have not found a good way to make this in Illustrator, is is possible to get the glow-funktion, if having it as a vector-file? Thank you in advance Best Regards, Erik...

    Erik,

    Effect>Stylize>Outer Glow.

    Just a quicky,

One way would be adding mutiple strokes via the apperance palette and making each stroke a slightly diffent size and shade of colour.

Another way is similer to first but instead make a blend between 2 (or more) strokes of different size and colour.

Jacob, I thought the outer glow effect was raster?

Erik said he wanted just a vector file, although maybe he's not fussed if some of his logo is rastered.

    Ok, Thank you.

Where do I find the tools to go ahead and to the first suggested thing, Dean?

Well the apperance palette you'll find via the window menu (If it's not already visable). And then use the top right arrow in the corner of the palette to add new strokes. You have to make the logo rectangle first though of course.

And if you want to make a blend instead then you'll find that command via the object menu or in the toolbox. I suggest you take a read in the help files about blending and then if you have any more questions it helps you and anyone posting here to cut to the chase a lot quicker.

    Good luck!

    Thank you Dean.

I got some strokes in it, and I was able to change colors of them. Great! However, I don't know how to position them. They are centered now, but I would like them to be "inside orientated". Tried with reference point, but that didn't work out!

To put the stroke behind (Which is what you want if you're recreating the logo you posted a link to).

In the appearance palette - Drag the Fill above all the Strokes.

Using two boxes (shaded at say, 80% red and 0% red) and a blend would also have worked.
