Critical! Printing CMYK tiff to inkjet
Win2000pro/FH10. When I output CMYK tiff to my Epson Stylus printer, the colors appear to be acid unlike what is displayed on the screen. The cms is turned on, the monitor simulates CMYK and the colors are nice and beautiful. But the printout is a mess. The bug affects CMYK TIFFs only - vector objects with cmyk fills are printed out exactly like on the screen or in the Pantone Process book. Is there any way around this?
PS When exporting the artwork from FH10 to eps and outputting it from within Illustrator or InDesign, all colors seem to be intact.

Try printing it with FH color management off and see if that makes any difference.

Didn't help. However, if I make the option Monitor Simulates: None, the colors on screen are identical to the printout (i.e. "acid").

Re: Critical! Printing CMYK tiff to inkjet
I'm struggling with PowerRIP X, a Epson 2100 and FHMX at the moment so I sympathise.
I found this link elsewhere in this forum.
It is very interesting and may help you http://www.informit.com/content/articlex.asp?product_id=%7BAFFFAD7C-AD32-4881-9563-E86AE67A59ED%7D&element_id=%7B13930A1D-7DEC-4BD0-82FF-41779443A945%7D&st=%7BFFE98E3B-E802-4106-A72F-A53621AD7EEE%7D&session_id=%7B888FA060-3E7F-45EC-BBA4-A55273C11DA9%7D
The amazing thing is, that despite labelling this program MX and diddling about with its dialogs and palettes, all of the stuff mentioned in this article is just as awful as it ever was.
I think someone should tell Macromedia that the Internet boom is over and it's time to pay a little attention to MMs print customers, before the last graphic designer deserts to Adobe.
I mean, calibration and profiling is complicated whatever you do, so why make it even worse with obscurely worded, misleading dialogs and weird profile handling?
Here's hoping that the peculiar "yes, it's an upgrade, but we're not going to tell anyone" upgrade to the Studio MX 2004 FreeHand MX (11.1?) version brings a little sanity.
I could sure use some.
