    Hi Linda.

Sorry, that was meant to be 1998, not 5998 :)

I can do the mathematics myself (and sometimes type it right too 8^). And I
can help Numeric Tranform do mathematics to keep in dimensions in exactly
    the same ratios.

If I dont help it and I constrain and ask 101% of, say 1600 X 1200, it will
    give me 1616 X 1212.

Then I look at my photo and say, "No, I would like the visible area to be
    smaller, so I try 98%

    I then get (by a calculator), 1583.68 X 1187.76.

Change it a few more times and I can understand why FW slips some pixel to
    throw out the exact ratio.

    Steve

Does it do fractions of a pixel? Screens can't display fractions of a
pixel so I don't know why it would. I hope that's what you meant.
Frankly, I got lost about three posts ago. You don't have to scale or
resize proportionally, however. Just uncheck Maintain proportions and
Constrain whatever it says there. :-)

Does it really have to be this complicated? I am currently working on a cover that will include a photo mosaic. The photos are in strict rectangles, and they have to fit perfectly. The problem Im having with using Fireworks is that whenever I try to crop a photo to fit, it crops such that all the other contents outside it will be deleted. I only want that certain photo cropped.

Is there a command where I can select a photo and crop a part of it while retaining the canvas?

Note: There are a lot of photos in what Im working on, so it would help a lot if the trick wouldn't take so much time for each. As I can see, the tips in this thread are either complicated or doesn't do as I was looking for since Im not particular about the size as long as the edges would fit exactly.

    Cheers
