Cropped pages print un-cropped
This is Acrobat 5.0.5.
I scanned several multi-page documents, using a sheet-fed flatbed scanner. Unfortunately, the scanner doesn't auto-crop. Consequently, I have to manually crop the pages within Acrobat - their images are roughly legal size and include a big black band, where the standard-sized pages don't fill the entire scanned image.
When I view the pages, in Acrobat, they look perfect. Nicely cropped.
However, when I print the pages, it looks as if they weren't cropped at all. Big black band at the top of the page and the page image is compressed to fit the remaining of the 8.5" x 11" page.
What setting have I left incorrectly configured? How can it be that pages which appear cropped, when viewed within Acrobat, print out as if they were never cropped at all? Ahem - what happened to that 1980's concept of WYSIWYG?

Re: Cropped pages print un-cropped
Try printing the cropped PDF to Distiller, this makes the cropping permanent.

Re: Cropped pages print un-cropped
Alas, I tried that. What that does is make the now shrunk document, including the black bar (which I had intended to crop out), permanent. I've found, in many cases, this is cutting the bottom of documents off, to make room for the parts I've cropped off.

Re: Cropped pages print un-cropped
I just tried things on AA5.0.5. I cropped the original document and printed it. I also saved the cropped document. The results were:
1. The saved version saved in the full cropping (they were tiny pages with the cropped text and nothing else).
2. The printed version printed only the cropped text, but on a full sheet (it also did it in landscape for some reason - possibly because of my auto-rotate setting with the fact the crop was an equation). The rotation is easy enough to correct.
I did not try printing to the printer, only Acrobat. The shrink expand option is related to that choice on the AA print menu.
