cross browser differences
To all that contribute to these user forums: thank you. You are a tremendous
help.
Even with all that info, I just can't get my head around positioning with CSS.
I have read and completed tutorials to great success, but when writing my own
code, the pages bust apart when viewing in Mozilla.
Problem:
In mozilla, content_2 DIV shows up underneath content_1 DIV when it should
show up to the right (like it does in IE). This must have something to do with
"float," but I sure can't figure it out. See links to test page and CSS below.
Additionally, I have two questions:
1. There are various descriptions of padding and margin in the tutorials
available, but could someone verify the truth to the way I would state the
difference in my own words: "margin is the distance on the outside of the
element's border, and padding is the distance inside the element's border." Do
I understand the difference correctly, or is that completely wrong? Is there a
better way to think about it?
2. In the homepage test (link below), the footer behaves differently between
IE and Mozilla (in Mozilla, there is more space above and below the text, even
though "left" padding is the only measurement given. Margin is set to 0). What
is causing this difference in rendering? and how to equalize it?
Any insight is greatfully appreciated.
