Cross referencing in XML
Hello all,
My company does medical publishing and we are in the process of switching over from FrameMaker+SGML to InDesign. One of the issues we are running into is that in FrameMaker we've got all our reference callouts set up with cross reference markers. So that when exported to the web if you click on a reference number in the body of an article, it will link to the reference at the end of the document.
Does anyone know of a way to work this into InDesign? We'll be exporting XML and I just haven't gotten to the point where i can find a way to work it.
If anyone needs more info, please just post here and i'll supply any info i can.
Thanks much,
Mac

Re: Cross referencing in XML
One way to approach this would be through XML attributes. Create a unique ID attribute on the XML element of each reference and then create a corresponding attribute on the callout elements. These attributes could be converted to links via XSLT when the rest of the document is converted to HTML.
