    Default CS 3.0 Won't Open

I'm getting an error message that says "Cannot load InDesign.exe because it requires Sound. Please install Sound and restart Adove InDesign"
My 'sounds' files are turned on (XP professional Windows default).
    What is this Sound?

I am having the same problem. I replaced Microsoft ME with XP Professional this last weekend. Then installed InDesign which worked for a while then the error message popped up and InDesign stopped. Have uninstalled and reinstalled. Have not been able to find any information on the forums or FAQ until the question from rob appeared. Is "SOUND" a Microsoft application or InDesign application? It must be an InDesign function since it is a required file for InDesign to work. Another computer in the office that has InDesign working has a file in the "Required folder" called Sound.rpln. My computer does not display that file nor does "SEARCH" find it any where in my computer. Anyone have an answer?

    Define "replaced".

Did you do an actual upgrade or a clean install? An upgrade will give
you nothing but headaches and world of tears.

Did upgrade from ME to XP. Can you do a clean install from an upgrade version?

Yes, and the sooner you do it the better. Back up all of your data,
fonts, etc. Download XP drivers for all of your hardware and set you
computer's bios to boot to the CD drive.

Place the XP CD in the drive and reboot the computer. Then follow the
instructions. At some point you'll be asked for a previous version of
Windows at which point you'll swap the CDs and place the ME CD in the
drive for verification and then continue on.
