Default CS: Can't select type anchor point after baseline shift

After I do a baseline shift on point text, I can no longer select the text object by its anchor point. Smart guides recognizes the point as an anchor, the scale and rotate tools still place their origin at the anchor point, I just can't grab it. I can move the text by its highlighted baseline (which now moves up with the shifted text, unlike previous AI versions) but that makes it hard to snap the text's anchor to another path. This happens with both the object select and direct select tools.

Default Re: CS: Can't select type anchor point after baseline shift

With the bounding box shown, the anchor point of the text gets put behind a resize handle. If I set the left margin of the text to a negative value so the anchor point comes away from the corner, I still can't grab it.

With edges hidden, even when the text is in a state where Smart Guides shows the location of the anchor (see below) the text can't be moved using the point.

There's a relationship between the depth of the font's descender and how much of a baseline shift can be done before Smart Guides stops recognizing the anchor point (any amount of shift results in not being able to drag text by the anchor, though). For example, a script font like 12 pt. Zaphino can be shifted 39 points while 12 pt. Courier can only be shifted 5 points before Smart Guides ignores the anchor.

Also, dragging text vertically that has had its baseline shifted results in a trail of anchor points being left on the screen. I've seen all these behaviors on two computers.

This is why it says "CS" in the thread title. ; )

9 and 10 work fine in this case. It's the change in the way shifted text is handled in CS (the visible baseline moves up with the text instead of staying aligned with the anchor as in previous versions) that appears to have caused something to break.

    Yes, I saw that.

I wanted to test to see if it was the same in the other versions and check it it was a preference or a font thing.
