CS crashes when trying to open inx file from cs2

I just downloaded the update for indesign cs that is supposed to let me open cs2 files with an inx extension, but whenever i try to open the file it crashes indesign. I rebooted my computer and it still wont open. Please help.

Try temporarily switching off color management. If your .inx file has links in it that need updating, this is the most likely cause of the crash.

did switch off color management. there are links and fonts and i have both folders.

dont know. i am a freelance designer, and the company i'm working for is using cs2 and im on cs. i was trying to hold out and wait for cs3 before i upgrade. i guess i can ask the creative dir. here to try and open it.

yes. it opens on her computer in cs2.

It could be a font problem of some kind -- I'm afraid these things are very hard to diagnose from a distance. Try minimizing the fonts on your computer and see if it opens then.

You are not serving you client properly if you don't upgrade. It's part
of doing business and strongly suggest that you simply buy the upgrade
now. It will save you a world of headaches.

use lynotype's new font explorer x and when i try to open the inx file it automatically opens font explorer x. Should i disable this from opening? or do i just disable a bunch of the fonts?

thanks for the advice bob. The reason i was waiting was because of all the issues with cs2. Not everyone has the ability to buy expensive software every year.

First off, I work for the creative group and am not 1099, so actually i'm an employee. Every place they have sent me to i have used the clients equipment. The place i'm at now doesn't really have a creative dept, so i'm forced to use my personal equipment. I agree with you that if i owned my own business i should have the latest of everything.
What would be great is if adobe offered a free cs3 upgrade to all cs2 owners, but we all know that will never happen.

You weren't very clear about the circumstances. In that case, you really
need to talk to your employer about this.

They're not doing this client any favors, though they are boosting their
own billable hours.
