cs editing path of text on a path
In Illustrator 10 and earlier, I could draw a path, use the text on a path tool, then use the pencil tool if I wished and edit the path the text is one.
I can't seem to manage this last bit in cs. What am I missing?

Re: cs editing path of text on a path
Well, thanks for the confirmation. Funny that you can edit a path that way, until you put text on it. It was slightly embaressing, as I was teaching a couple of people how to use illustrator, and I attempted to show them this feature.
Does this count as a bug?
I guess I can still go in with the direct select tool and mess with the points.

Re: cs editing path of text on a path
Hey everyone... I'm FRUSTRATED right now, so please forgive my sarcastic tone.
OK, so I have used Illustrator since Illustrator 88. Bought 3 and 5 and 6 and 8 and 9 and 10 and now CS. For the past ten years, I'd draw a path with numerous points or copy a path with numerous point, click on it with the text tool, type my text and center justify, double;click the text to flip it over and voila, type centered on a path. 30 seconds, no sweat. Now, in CS, after 20 minutes of messing around, trying everything, uniting, expanding, redrawing, selecting rainbows and skews and justifying this way and that and no matter what I do, the text refuses to use more than one segment of the the path. And the same thing happens when I open Illustrator 10 files that used to be correct.
What, OH WHAT, am I doing wrong????? I'm far too busy to be able spend an hour on something like this! Adobe, come on. I can see a lot of benefits from this new text engine, but wow is it difficult to work with. I'm used to having to jump through hoops to make things work on every version of Illustrator I've used, so please someone tell me what hoops I need to jump to make this simple command work.
Thanks for listening to my ramblings.

Re: cs editing path of text on a path
Thomas, check Morty Goldings New Text Engine topic where he's covered about every item about the new CS text engine. Perhaps something will be in there for you. Do a search for "Illustrator CS: Let's talk about the new text engine."
