Default CS2: can you print just part of a page?

Can't find in the ID Help or on this forum any information about printing just a part of a given page...not as a tile but just as a particular section that wants to be proofed, for instance. Can this be done?

    Thanks for any tips.

I don't fully understand what you're trying to achieve. Why not just print the whole page or a tile? Are you trying to print a non-rectangular section of the page?

You could always move the stuff you don't want to print to a different layer and then hide the layer.

Hi Dave. I'm trying to replicate a Freehand ability. With a very oversize page, I want to proof a small portion of it at 100% on an 8-1/2 x 11 sheet of paper without having to output the whole thing as tiles. How's that?

Maybe it's possible to drag a tile icon around on a page in a print dialog box somewhere to encompass just a part of it that you choose?

Just drag the zero point to where you want the top left corner of the tile to be and print a tile.

Another way is to save as pdf and bring that back into ID, cropping unwanted areas.

Intools has a nifty function for this also that allows you to grab sections of a page and print or save to PDF with or w/o crops, etc.

OK, then where can I get this manual on how to be smart? Obviously I'm not so well-endowed as David.

More to the point, Chris, I think someone was being a good sport. But you're right about the off-topic aspect. I'm signing off from this one. Thanks to all of you who provided useful information in response to the original query.
