CS2 post upgrade font question
Just upgraded to Tiger (10.4.6), CS2 4.0.3, and have switched to FAP from Suitcase -- the dreaded getting familiar stage.
I've taken all but "Reqrd" fonts out of the HD>Library>App Support>Adobe>Fonts folder. All my other fonts reside in one folder, except for System fonts. "Reqrd" contains: AdobeFnt07.lst, Base folder, and Cmaps folder
ISSUE: When I launch Indesign, there is a plethora of mostly Truetype fonts in the type menu, most of which are Roman, Arabic, and Asian. Where are all these coming from, and how the heck do I get rid of them: they aren't on in FAP. There is also a WSIWYG "sample" list opposite the font list, which I'd like to turn off. . . how?
thanks,
Jim

Re: CS2 post upgrade font question
The TT fonts were probably installed by OS X.
Look in "System/Library/Fonts", ".../Library/Fonts" and ".../Username/Library/Fonts".
Be careful, though: you can remove some, but not all of these fonts. See Font Locations and Their Purposes. <http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106417>
Nini's font page, here, <http://www.ninisworld.com/thecorner/tutorials/osxfonts.html> is useful.

Re: CS2 post upgrade font question
Am I assuming correctly that I can remove the International fonts from "System/Library/Fonts" : i.e. Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Arabic, since my computer will only ever be run in English.

Re: CS2 post upgrade font question
What I would do is to disable the system fonts that are in the other languagues through font book, I wouldn't remove them, but use mac osx's font book to disable the missing fonts.

Re: CS2 post upgrade font question
Thanks Anne, good tip. . . Essential system fonts are either not listed in FontBook, or, if listed, cannot be disabled.
