CS3 and AdSense - Macromedia Contribute General Discussion

I just got my first AdSense account, and I?m wondering about how I might go about placing some Text Adds on different Pages. http://woodsshop.com I?m not a very advanced CS3 user, and I?ve never placed these Adds on my site so bear with me. It looks like my site?s default Page Width is set at 620 pixels wide. The AdSense Leaderboard is 728 x 90. My thinking is, to go in to each Page, and where I want the add to appear, Insert >Table at 730 pixels wide, like I did at the top of this Page? (marked with Zs) ...

    Default CS3 and AdSense

I just got my first AdSense account, and I?m wondering about how I might go
about placing some Text Adds on different Pages. http://woodsshop.com

I?m not a very advanced CS3 user, and I?ve never placed these Adds on my site
    so bear with me.

It looks like my site?s default Page Width is set at 620 pixels wide. The
AdSense Leaderboard is 728 x 90. My thinking is, to go in to each Page, and
where I want the add to appear, Insert >Table at 730 pixels wide, like I did
at the top of this Page? (marked with Zs)
http://woodsshop.com/Gable%20Curved/GablePlans.htm Is this a good way to do
this? This way I can set up the exact spot on my Page where the Add will be,
and even put some ***** in there so when I go in to the Coding I can find the
spot to paste the Add Code.

I see that when I add a Table wider then 620, it changes the layout of the
Page and I need to re-organize things. Any way around this?

I would also like to be able to add a Skyscraper type add (120x600) on the
right side of my Page, but can?t figure out how to do that. I?m trying to add a
120x600 Table on the right but it won?t let me. I don't see in Contribute where
I can alter this 620 pix page width restriction. I've looked in Preferences, My
    Connections and Administrator Website.

Sure would appreciate any advice on this!

OK! I placed my first google add as you see
http://woodsshop.com/Gable%20Curved/GablePlans.htm so my idea about how to
place my adds on the Page worked :-)

I'd still like to be able to add a Skyscraper type add (120x600) on the right
side of my Page, but can?t figure out how to do that. I?m trying to add a
120x600 Table on the right but it won?t let me.

Here's how my website looks on my screen, it's pretty narrow compared to most
site's I see. Sorry for the long URL, I'll post it at bottom

What I'd really like to know is how to increase the Pages width, and add that
skyscraper add on the right side of my Pages. Contribute won't let me make a
column over there. I've found in Administrator Websites where I can increase
the Image Size allowed, but not the Page Size.

Sorry, this is probably a basic question, but someone else originally set up
my site and I've had no reason to change the width.

Bumping this, hoping someone can show me how to add a tall column on the side of the narrow Page?

    Hi Joe,
Your site is build based on a Dreamweaver template (also available on your
webserver in folder Templates, called woodsshop.dwt). You can update the design
of al the pages using Dreamweaver.
If you don't have Dreamweaver maybe you can ask your sitebuilder or someone
else to do it for you.

The main table of your website is 600 pixels wide: <table align="center"
    width="600" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">. This table is in the
template, outside the editable region (body), so if the width is changed in the
template you can change the width sitewide, without touching the content. Make
sure you have all the pages downloaded from the server first, so you do not
accidentally overwrite new content on the server, created with Contribute.

You can also choose to add the javascript code for Google ads to the template.
Best is to create a google.js file and call it into the pages like this:
    <script type="text/javascript" src="path-to-file/google.js"></script>. This way
Contribute will not mess up the code and you can make changes to the code if
    you wish.

ThinkInk! You don't know how much you've helped me with that long running lck
file issue you helped me with a few months ago! I've been able to do some much
editing, updating, adding Pages and images to my site, and not once have I had
to run and delete lck files :-) Thanks so much again!

Will changing it like that mess up the layout for every Page then? You say
changing it without touching the content, does that mean all Page layouts stay
as is? What is a good Page width for a site like mine?

Unfortunatly, the person who set it up with DWeaver is long gone and I don't
know anyone else who uses it.
