ID has a greater specificity than Class. If the two are in conflict, ID
will always win. Also, ID assignment must be unique on a page, whereas many
page elements may have the same class.
It is the use of the ID that allows one to create exact specificity in your
descendent selectors, for example -
div#menuDiv ul ul li { styles }
could only apply to a single very specific set of links on the page without
using any class assignments....
