CSS problems with Contribute 4

We've been using Contribute for a number of years at our institution without
problem. We currently have Contribute 4. I am creating a new site that uses CSS
and the pages done so far have rendered fine on all browsers checked, and they
look ok when viewed in Contribute itself.

My problem happens when I go to publish a page someone has edited.
Even though the pages were created in Dreamweaver as was the previous site,
and all linking set up as relative links just as before, Contribute is NOT
acting as normal. I usually get a window popping up saying that in order not to
break any links Contribute has to publish the following files. The bizarre
thing is that the files listed often have nothing to do with the page being
edited. i.e. the page being edited does not even contain links to these pages!.
In the worst extreme Contribute was basically publishing a draft of every
single page on the web site and sticking them in to the same directory as the
file I was originally trying to publish.

The problem seems to be due somehow to the CSS. I tried an experiment and
created a test page using our new template, but with no other styled content,
i.e no <divs> etc, just a bit of text and that published fine. Then I just
added in our left nav area which is in a <div> tag and suddenly the problem
occurred. If I take the style tags off and just leave the links, the page
publishes ok, but the minute those same links are in my <div> tags its
completely a mess.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Is this a Contribute problem (our old site
didn't use CSS, so we didn't have a problem) or might it be something with my
CSS?? Any help greatly appreciated.

We've had the same thing happen with one of our users, whose pages use a different stylesheet than the other users. Solve the problem yet?
