Alas, this doesn't work in Panther[0].

The Message.strings file is still at
'/System/Library/Frameworks/Message.framework/Resources/English.lproj/Me
ssage.strings'

And contains:
"REPLY_ATTRIBUTION" = "\nOn %, at %, % wrote:\n\n";
however, this appears to be called with three variables (date, time,
senderRealName), so just changing it to "% wrote:\n" only picks up the
date.

Being old-fashioned, I prefer my reply attribution to be
"<tld> said:"

Any suggestions?

TIA, Alan
[0] I can't remember what the original values of REPLY_MESSAGE_PREFIX
and REPLY_MESSAGE_24HOUR_PREFIX were in Jaguar - If someone could post
them, that might help.
