    Default Customize Placeholder Text?

Is it possible to customize the pseudo-latin default text that is added when I select Type > Fill With Placeholder Text? I am doing a lot of work in German at the moment, and I'd love to use "real" German filler text, as that will give me a much more realistic impression of the finished thing.

    All tips greatly appreciated, thanks.

Sure. Create a text file with the name "Placeholder.txt" and save it into the InDesign application folder.

Many thanks, Steve. Tell me: Did I miss this valuable snippet of information hidden somewhere deep inside the behemoth that is InDesign Help, or is it not actually mentioned anywhere?

From what I can tell, it's not mentioned.

InDesign is getting to be a BIG application, and it's probably impossible to document all this in the Help system, or any one book.

However, you'll probably find this in some of the better third-party books on InDesign. For example, Sandee Cohen's InDesign CS Visual Quickstart Guide. Or, InDesign for QuarkXPress Users that I co-wrote with David Blatner and Christopher Smith. Or the just released Real World InDesign CS by David Blatner and Ole Kvern.

    Steve,

sorry - got it just this moment. In my german version the file-name has to
    be translated to "Platzhalter.txt"

Wow - I never had expected that Adobe would draw their attention to such
    details in a language-version...

    Thanks - Uwe

Anyone still have the old (REALLY old) placeholder text from Pagemaker that
had every 25 or 50 words counted out so when you placed the text you could
quickly see how many words fit? It could be recreated manually but now that
I know I can replace the placeholder text it'd be great to have the one with
    the word count built in.

    Thanks,
    Sheila

Did you ever receive yours? The Amazon site still lists mine as not
having shipped, but with an estimated receipt date of May 12.
