I'm evaluating the CVS/SVN extensions that Adobe/Macromedia is endorsing (from
grafxsoftware.com).

The vendor claims both of these products are "Macromedia Approved".

Unfortunately I'm finding many problems with these products. For example:

- With both products, I cannot access the context menu with the bulk of the
useful commands (at leat not in any obvious way)
- the UI for the functions I can access is very non-user-friendly (the only
feedback to the end user is low-level messages in a "console"-like window
- After executing any command in the CVS product, a cvs.exe process is left
running
- After entering an incorrect password with the SVN product, I was not able to
try again with a different password, even after re-installing the extension.
- The first time I did a CVS update, I was asked to enter my password in clear
text - a big problem from a security standpoint.

We're looking for a version control solution to roll out to our Production
dept. (with several Dreamweaver users), but this doesn't look like it.
Unfortunately (and surprisingly!), there don't seem to be any competitors out
there.

My questions are:

- How can these products have earned the "Macromedia Approved" status with so
many obvious problems?

and

- Aren't there any alternatives out there?
