D60 DENTS THE MOON ??? - Photography

No, it looks like it is not quite a full moon.

The 13th (yesterday) was a FULL moon. You are just seeing a the first "bite"
out of the moon as it moves away from full moon.

Good image. As someone else mentioned, yesterday (July 13) was the true full
moon (was cloudy and rainy all that night here). So I was out tonight
playing around with my 10D and cheap-o 75-300 f/4-5.6 and got a very similar
shot, only not nearly as sharp. I should really look into buying some new
lenses next time I have the cash to spend. ;-)

Yes.....It was taken a day or so after it was full....A guy who sails to
Hawaii every year told me to remember the word, "DOC". The moon looks like
the D (flat on the left side) when it's not yet full. (waxing) And looks
like the C (flat on the right side) right after it's full. (waning)

Very nice. But I thought we'd been through this -- the D60 is *not*
"totally" digital. Poster, edit thyself.

It's because of this severe vignetting and distortion that the camera
and lens were discontinued.

I kinda doubt it.

I would imagine "totally digital" means nothing less than that: totally
digital, from the moment the image is captured to the moment it's
transferred out of the camera. The D60's CMOS is an og doohickey. Or so
I'm lead to believe.

If the guy fishes he could use many of annika1980's pix as chum.

Be prepared for the moon occulting the planet MARS tonight around midnight.
Best seen near Florida.

Bret, how do you (or do you ever) make slide shows of your digital images?
From everything I've seen, digital is at a definite DISADVANTAGE for quality
slide viewing. Long live E6 film!

Since I don't own a LCD projector, you have a good point. However, you can
still make slides from digital files. I'll give my friend Mac (at
www.doogle.com) some business soon and then I'll be all set.
Best of both worlds, baby!
