Damaged Illustrator Files Wanted - Adobe Illustrator Windows

In defense of Scott... Scott is being too nice. When a post is made with a snide, sarcastic "attitude that says slap me" and flips with "don't be so mean" complaining about being slapped, gets no sympathy from me, even if they can drop names to impress. It is interesting that Abe complains about Scott not appling the Golden Rule when Abe didn't in the first place. Logic says "the customer is always right" has limits. Greg...

Actually, I don't believe Abe's tirade is directed at Scott, but rather at Shane and Adobe.

I think it's good that Shane/Adobe are taking this good faith step to yze corrupted files in the interest of making it a less common occurrence in future versions of AI, and I get the feeling it's Shane's, "side project" of sorts.

Of course, it's understandable that Abe, and anyone else who has such a file they'd like to recover, wants a fixed file returned. However, it would most likely be counter-productive for Shane and AdobeTS to advertise any promise of file repair. Think about it. How many files would they get that don't actually need any kind of repair? Would novice users crash the gates with every missing font error they see? The responsibility for receiving, fixing, and returning every file...accounting for all those transactions...interfacing with every responder...could easily grow well past the scope of one technical support guy's "side project."

And Scott...there's no such thing as "too nice." Be nice. Be yourself. And, be safe.

Well darn. I had a CS2 student last month who had an inexplicably disfunctional file with mesh objects in it. I concluded it must be corrupted and asked her to move on to something else because it was just a practice file anyway and she was able to paste the paths into a new doent. I don't think I want to open a can of worms by contacting her to get the file. But if it comes up again with any other students, I'll be sure to send the files along.

It's a great project, Shane. Thanks for taking it on.

    Cheers, Toni
