data encryption in sql server 2000 - Microsoft SQL / MS SQL Server

Sri, There is no supported way of column encryption in-built in SQL Server.Your best bet would be to encrypt in the application level itself before storing in SQL Server.Since you are already aware about the third party tools Iam not mentioning them here.If you still want, please let us know. -- Dinesh.     Sri,

    No.We didnt use any third party tool though, at that time, we reviewed
    many.It was a business decision not to use any.IIRC , we finally ended up
    using microsoft's CryptoAPI.
