database???
i am makign a small usage website with asp as the
frontend. I need experieced user's suggestion. If i use
MySQL as the backend with asp , is it compatible?
if yes, then installing MySQL is easy or does it give any
problem?
I am a newbie and would appreciate your valuable
suggestions.

I would start with a microsoft based rdbms first...that way you should have
to much trouble communicating to your database from your scripts.
To use mysql with asp you will need to download the myobdc drivers from the
mysql site. Doing this isn't something i would recommend first up...

I agree with Adam to a degree. If you have access to MSDE
(it comes with Visual Studio and Microsoft Office
Developers Edition) then I would use that. It works
exactly the same as MS SQL and is reasonably easy to set
up and use. I would discourage Access as do many of the MS
people who read and respond here. For the specific reasons

If you do not have MSDE available, then I do think MySQL
is a valid option. It's certaily not the easiest to set up
and use, but it can be done.
