Database Connection Woes - beginner needs help - Macromedia Dreamweaver

Hi - I'm totally new at database sites and am running through a DMXzone tutorial. Have just spent an hour troubleshooting my problem. I have Apache/php/mysql running locally on WinXpPro. My problem is that when I test my connection, it fails with this error message: HTTP error code 404 file not found Possible reasons- 1) no testing server running 2) the testing server specified for this site does not map to http://localhost/folder/sitename/_mmServerScripts/MMHTTPDB.php url. I can see that my Apache server is running. Possibly I need to initiate/execute mysql too?? TIA warren...

Default Database Connection Woes - beginner needs help

Hi -

I'm totally new at database sites and am running through a DMXzone tutorial.
Have just spent an hour troubleshooting my problem. I have Apache/php/mysql
running locally on WinXpPro. My problem is that when I test my connection, it
fails with this error message:

HTTP error code 404 file not found
Possible reasons-
1) no testing server running
2) the testing server specified for this site does not map to
http://localhost/folder/sitename/_mmServerScripts/MMHTTPDB.php url.

I can see that my Apache server is running. Possibly I need to initiate/execute
mysql too??

TIA
warren

hi. dont worry. setting up apache/php/mysql can be a nightmare. i don't know
much about Dreamweaver Mx as I use DW4. test what is working in this order:

1. test apache. can you view home page through your browser? if so apache is
ok...
2. test php. create a test.php file like this:

<?php
phpinfo();
?>

when you try this url can you see the php config? if so apache is ok and it
must be your mysql...

email me at my website address below if your still having problems cheers
